First story.
An employee signs an employment contract with an employer whose official working hours start from 9am to 6pm (5 days a week). In the contract, there’s a small clause that states that the employee may be required to work overtime occasionally during peak period. The employee comes to work everyday at 9.10am and goes back home at 6.30pm.
Fair or not fair?
Second story.
A young couple who was recently married and are both working full-time discusses the amount they should contribute to the household. Not knowing what methodology to use, they decided to use the percentage of income method at the beginning. Since the husband is earning 20% higher income than the wife, the husband should contribute a corresponding 20% higher expenses than the wife.
Fair or not fair?
Third story.
A young man who is very close to his mum since young, gets married to his childhood sweetheart. Even though he treats both equally well, there is always a disparity in the eyes of who is number one or two. Some might argue on the theory of unconditional love – giving without asking for return.
Fair or not fair?
Fair to one person might not be fair to another, so why bother? ;-p
Hi Richard
This is why our world is never at equilibrium stage where everyone is satisfied with everything.
Got overtime pay can work. 1.5 rate on weekdays and I love to work on Sundays at 2.0 rate.
Hi Uncle CW
I dont think that applies to all workers right? Hehhee some will tend to exploit that.
Hi B,
We stay in Singapore, have enough food and water and live in relative peace.
One wouldn't really want the heavens to be "fair". ;p
And when there's love, (last 2 scenarios), fairness ain't that important?
All the best if you have been describing yourself thus far. I think ultimately you will be able to handle it we'll. =)
Hi 15hww
Hahaha just to be clear. I wasnt talking about myself. Just thinking aloud of the problems my friends had.
Unconditional love is acceptable. Emotionally attached to the company? ? Hmmm
Unfair unfair unfair……
I thought these kinda statements are made only by kids nowadays?
Hi Eye White Shut
I beg to differ.
Fair.is subjective so they are part of everyday life decision whatever we do. If the world is a fair place for everyone then we dont even need a govt to run the country.
First Story
Its not a big deal and question of being fair or not fair shouldn't arise. Work provides us the major part of money we earn. spending extra 30 minutes everyday for the work we love shouldn't be bad.I still remember the recession time, when people were thankful that at least they didn't lose the job.
Second story
As far as husband and wife agree on any methodology, it should be good.
We can't do math's with relations
3rd story
That's universal scenario and we have to live with it. Wife and mother's role are two different roles and should be treated as that role deserves.
As many people said there are things beyond fair and unfair.
Hi 3novsan
Thanks for your input.
I agree on all your 3 inputs above.
When it comes to making money and wealth building, don't ask what is fairness. Always strive to do your best and let God do the rest!

SG Wealth Builder
Hi Gerald
Yeah, when it comes to money, human eyes become greedy.
LOL
Hi B,
1st story – fairness always dictate by employer. If employee is unhappy, he seeks greener pasture.
2nd story – never fair when wife is concern. She wins most of the times!
3rd story – cannot compare apple to orange! In front of wife, tell her she is number 1, vice versa when in front of mum. But normally mother does not mind taking number 2 because they give more than they take!
Rolf
Hi Rolf
Hahaha.
1st story is both needs to play fair. Otherwise, both sides will just lose.
3rd story is cheeky. We just need to be more agile with it 😉
