It it time for another month of reporting which means an update on the portfolio.
I’ve not been spending time lately monitoring the market as there are plenty of other things and errands to run on the personal front so it’s been mostly untouched.
After coming back from my trip to Taiwan in March, I’ve been catching up for my work in the office and have to run errands to Jakarta again earlier this week. I’ve read the news about the Tariff war between the US and China but didn’t take much interest in it. I believe this is just a noise which relates to nothing in the long run in the scheme of things.
For this month, I’ve added another 3,000 shares of Singtel after seeing some opportunities the other day to add. I didn’t have a lot of thesis in Singtel and neither do I have the funds to add a lot, so this is simply a buy at the current valuation waiting for institution to value them back up. Meanwhile, the dividend is attractive to me and I believe they will maintain their current payout.
On another front, I was also allocated 8,000 shares of Sasseur Reit which I manage to allocate them to my wife’s account. I’ve managed to recently convinced my wife to buy some companies with her savings so she’s starting out a little in the recent times. I’ll manage it for her directly under my own accounts.
Net Worth Portfolio
The portfolio has increased from the previous month of $644,100 to $653,910 this month (+1.52% month on month; +24.8% year on year).
This is the third time in the four months that the portfolio managed to break an all time record high. This is also the first time it managed to break the $650k barrier mark. Despite the constant up and down of the market volatility, I am not so worried as the portfolio is trending in the right direction.
A quick check on the first 3 months return also show that the portfolio is performing slightly better than the STI return, so not all hope is lost. I am still very confident that the portfolio will end 2018 very strongly with the companies that I have.
Family’s Portfolio
From this month onward, I am also going to include my family’s portfolio as I am handling more accounts under the same CDP account which makes me the need to do the reconciliation at times with the CDP statement.
So I thought it’ll be better to publish it clearly.
1.) Wife Portfolio
I am allocating my wife’s savings into Comfortdelgro, a company which I am more familiar with and easier to monitor. I also allocated my recently added Sasseur Reit as part of her portfolio as she is mainly interested in dividend companies.

Final Thoughts
I am running out of ammo for the equity side so I am looking very much forward to the upcoming dividends as well as the bonus from the company which will add more to the firepower.
Meanwhile, I hope everyone will stay safe during this volatile market.
Thanks for reading.

Just portfolio alone, you guys are approaching $1M. This is insane considering you guys are in your early 30s. Do you have a retirement accounting Singapore?
I'm considering the trade war as an opportunity to load up. so I'm buying stocks that hitting closer to the 52-weeks low. We'll see if this strategy will help vs just buy and forget. LOL π
HI Vivianne
Yes we have a social security retirement account here that works similar to a 401k there and will only be activated during our retirement years. I probably had around $100k there which I did not include as it is not that liquid as of now.
Great to see you've been buying a lot of equities at this time on top of the usual apartment hunt there. Youre a real hunter!

God bless you sir, I will not stop telling the world about your kindness in my life, I am a single mum with kids to look after. My name is Emily Thomas and I am from Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, FL . A couple of weeks ago My friend visited me and along our discussion she told me about EDWARD JONES FINANCE, that they can help me out of my financial situation, I never believed cause I have spend so much money on different loan lenders who did nothing other than running away with my money. I have been in a financial mess for the pass 7 months now, She advised I give it a try so I mailed him and explain all about my financial situation to him, he therefore took me through the loan process and gave me a loan of $390,000.00 at a very low interest rate of 2% and today I am a proud business owner and can now take good care of my kids, If you must contact any firm to get any amount of loan you need with a low interest rate of 2% and better repayment schedule, please contact EDWARD JONES FINANCE email:- {[email protected]} OR Text +1(307) 217-5388

Congrats! How do you increase your portfolio by 9k this month?
Hi Cheryl
Thank you, they are a combination of market forces and some capital injection π
Hi B,
wow you are really aggressive with 0% warchest. I assume this excludes your emergency funds.
I am in a similar situation as you. I also buy for my wife and two children using my account. So sometimes when I buy a specific share, i may have to split it by 2, 3 or 4. Keep track of it is tough especially when it comes to dividends. I have to ensure I credit it correctly to the correct person.
But I must say, your eldest son's portfolio is 5 times more than my son! He may reach financial freedom by his 20s. haha!
Hi MIM
Yeah haha I kept adding until I see there isnt anything much left in the bank account. But yeah I still do save the day to day running expenses so no worry on that part.
Do you buy for them pretty often or what is the usual frequency you would be adding for them?
Hi B,
Personally, I do not make many transactions to my own account. In 2017, I made only 11 transactions to my account. Hence, for my wife it will be lesser. For my children, I envisage it to be even fewer since they do not really have a warchest. =P
You have almost reached 1 mln, that's amazing. You have done really well considering your age.
Thanks a lot PIG!
Hi B,
We have quite a lot in common. My portfolio is about 600k. 2 kids, one is 3 year 11 months, the other is 1 year 3 months. My holdings are rather different though, in order of size: AEM, Vicom, Straco, Fraser's Property, First Reit, Fraser's L&I Trust, Guocoland, Geo Energy, 800 Super, GSS Energy.
Wish you good luck in your journey!
Hi Vingaard
Our profile is definitely very similar indeed π
Like you, I used to own AEM, Fraser Property, Straco, First Reit and Guocoland in the past so I think our appetite for the stocks are pretty similar… Gd luck too for your journey, would be interesting to check your profile someday π
Thanks for the update. I admire your conviction in terms of holding on to stocks such as Comfort Delgro, M1, SingTel and Starhill Reit. All these have lost value or not gone up significantly from their all time lows. I suppose regular significant capital injections have been the main driving force that helped increase portfolio value rather than capital appreciation. Of course, dividends do help but not by a great deal. I hold all these above quoted companies in my portfolio but the holding sizes are small except for SingTel. Good luck!!
Hi Gadudadri
Thanks for commenting π
Yes, this year capital injection play a big part and will continue to do so as I intend to boost them via both engine power (you may want to read this http://foreverfinancialfreedom.blogspot.sg/2018/01/you-need-2-out-of-3-levers-to-achieve.html).
Interestingly also, my portfolio for the Q1 of 2018 has ended at 0.85%, which is slightly higher than the STI index, so I guess it's not as bad as most people think. I still have a lot of conviction in the future value for CDG, M1, Singtel and Starhill and that's the only reason I am still holding on to them π
Hi B,
I salute your courage on going in 100%. Very respectable. And I see that your whole family are actually shareholder of CDG. Hahaha!
I'm also looking to add a little more on CDG. I agree with MIM on top, haha. Maybe B1.0 will reach FF in his 20s considering his portfolio at 3 years and 8 month!
Hi Sleepydevil
Haha should be unlikely to FI so fast…
Hahaha. The whole family are CDG shareholders.
π
Wow 4 tables are getting more complex.
Haha the tables are complex but its actually very easy to manage I dont own much stocks

CDG seems one of your favourite stocks lol. I think based on the dividend yield , it really looks attractive. Just curious will consider to add in more if the price going below $2?
Hi WD
I probably wont and have enough for now π
B do you see Singtel as a pick for growth or purely for divd play? Itβs price has not pick up since itβs IPO decades back.
Comparatively, HKT or just say any other telco…AT&T if held over a period of 10 yrs would have garner massive returns in growth.
To be honest, I see Singtel more as a dividend play and being a blue chip conglomerate means it would be highly subjective to instituitional play.
I see it more as a trading play + dividend and would be unlikely to hold on to it for long horizon.
Iβm still trying to understand how can a coy which locks in profit year on year can have a stagnant price over 10yr. What phenomenon is this?
Hi Anonymous
Thatβs because Mr market tends to value a company based on its growth outlook and at the moment the telco sectors are facing headwinds not just in SG but also in INdia.
Hihi
Would you mind sharing how to create equity account under kids name ?
Its briiliant idea.
Mum of 2 kids
Hi HC
Its not possible to create a cdp account under their name yet until they turned 18 by which you can do a transfer for a small fee π
