In the early years, there was no doubt about why I decided to start writing and journaling my journey striving towards achieving financial independence. Week after week, I’d open my laptop to serve up and chronicle my thoughts on what working as a younger graduate feels like and this then goes on for a good number of years. Post after post taking shape before my eyes, and countless number of words came out from the fingertips of my fingers, and fast forward today, it becomes a legacy to which the blog remains.
Yet now as I sit still writing this, it has been close to 9 months since I last hit publish on a blog post.
But why such a long hiatus?
Well, writing and researching as you may aware take a huge toll on your time, energy and focus – and I wanted to take a little break to seek for what’s out there – both in terms for work and personal time-off.
Without getting too much into the details, I’ve actually explored the first half of 2024 working closely with the founders in the fitness industry in one of the very popular yoga brand in Singapore in the capacity of a finance manager. The industry was a very niche and small community, but all in all it was a role that I particularly enjoy as it shapes my perspective towards fitness very differently today.
From a personal front, I also explored a new hobby which I have never done as much previously and that is HIKING!
I spent quite a bit of time reconnecting back with the nature (the trail walk alongside Bukit Timah side is now my favorite) and in the midst of all this I met with many similar interest minded people along the way.
In fact just last month, I went on a solo adventure trip to Bali and Surabaya to do a relatively beginner but beautiful hike at the Ijen Crater (the blue fire is incredible and is a bucket list ticked). During the same period, I also did the hike for the sunrise at Mount Batur, where we had to start the hike from as early as 3am to reach the top before sunrise.
It would be a lie to say if I don’t miss the community of the finance space that I’ve been a part of for a very long time. In fact, we met on several occasions for some events during this time and I am glad to be able to still reconnect with all these people whom I’ve respected a lot.
I’m planning to use another blogpost to update on my investment front so as not to dilute the majority of the content here but I guess (and hope) this will be the restart of my writing once again (or maybe do like a video content perhaps, let’s see about that).
I’m also going to leave a few of my other social media channel(s) links here – some of which I’ve just created to see if there are plans to diversify the content differently. For example, I am planning to use my newly created telegram channel to broadcast my thoughts or share my live or short term trades when I made them. In any case, feel free to join if you see the benefit(s) of doing so.
