This month is rather lackluster as I have only made divestment in SPH (See Post Here).
As a result, the portfolio is down from previous month of $274,400 to $250,025 this month mainly due to the divestment of SPH and the lackluster performance from Sembcorp Industries. I am still monitoring SCI closely but choose to wait until Sembcorp Marine report its results next week. Maybe I could catch a better entry price by then.
As a result of the divestment from SPH, together with the unutilised investment fund this month, in addition to the inflow of dividend cashflow next month, I am holding a rather huge cash at the moment. I hope I am not tempted to spend the cash away on some food or entertainment!!!
From this month, I would also like to include the amount of estimated annual dividend income from the portfolio. As of Oct, the estimated annual dividend stands at $12,738. Again, the drop in dividend income is due to my decision to divest a couple of dividend stocks such as First Reit and SPH and chose to invest them in growth stocks instead.
Companies are still in the midst of reporting their earnings so it will be interesting to see what come next, especially after the Fed ends their buying bond purchase.
Thanks for sharing. I have a long way to go to building my portfolio. 🙂
Hi SRSI
You'll reach there pretty soon.
i love your recent SReit analysis. It's very helpful 😉
Resist the temptation to spend your cash! Opportunities should present themselves eventually 🙂 I am also holding onto quite a bit of cash!
Hi GMGH
Markets seem to be on the way up again.
We'll see if it persists. I'm waiting to add to them if there are good opportunities.
with so many people waiting for markets to get lower, will it really get lower?
there's an opportunity cost in holding too much cash
Hi Felix
My cash is not too much that I will incur a large opportunity cost hahaha so I am not worried. If there is still no opportunities, I will put my money in Chelsea winning the epl meanwhile to get some returns 😉
My friends, why are you guys waiting? Last 2 weeks was an opportunity to buy! So many stocks and pennies have been beaten down and Dow continues to break new high. It's Bull again!
Tivoli.
Hi Tivoli
It appears so if we see how markets have run up.
Well, we'll have to see how the markets will run over the next few weeks leading to year end.
I'm wondering when will I hit my 1st hundred k portfolio…..? Nice work you had in your portfolio……
Hi David
Your next $50k will be much easier than you would imagined.
Keep the good work up together.
Why not invest in a monopoly like Baba? Many institutional funds are adding it into their portfolio & the IPO is just a start. Look at Visa which is also considered a duopoly; the price has risen from the $50s to $230 in 7 years. The dividend is pretty decent as well. My 2 cents worth.
Hi NKT
Thanks for your comment.
Alibaba is somewhat overvalued in my opinion and despite the recent hype I would like to see how they perform at least for the next few quarters.
Visa is a gem that I used to own. The price has run up recently due to its strong results but may face near term competition over their duopoly in the future. Definitely a blue chip to keep
Hi I disagree that Baba is overvalued. Many analysts also feel that Facebook was overvalued & has been proven wrong.
Hi NKT
No worries.
Valuation is relative in the first place.
It is not about the price going up it is about paying up to 40 to 50x forward earnings that I am not comfortable with.
